Amazing Grace" arranged by Nancy Wertsch for SATB choir (some divisi) and piano accompaniment. Heartfelt and inspirational, each verse features a different texture, with the opening verse sung by altos and sopranos, the second verse with melody in the basses with a decorative soprano counter melody, modulating each subsequent verse building in dynamic and an increasingly active piano accompaniment, all arriving at a triumphant conclusion.

The audio sample recording is sung by a soloist to the same piano accompaniment. Note this is different from the gospel arrangement of Amazing Grace NWC-147 also by Nancy Wertsch.

Text:

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
